2-Minute Rule, popularized by David Allen in "Getting Things Done (GTD)" and James Clear in "Atomic Habits," states that if a task takes less than two minutes, do it immediately to prevent small tasks from piling up. - Unwinding hour
In the Oasis Office program we schedule time at the end of the day in the "Unwinding hour"
The last hour of the day is often for employees, the most unproductive time: waiting for going home
However by a strategic planned last hour one goes home with energy and purpose
Scheduled are the so-called" D tasks" D=development tasks, relaxation and free-floating.
Unwinding hour schedule:
- Having an herbal tea.
- D tasks are Development tasks
- D 1 = is making the next day work planning 1xA-3xB-5xC tasks (2 -5 minutes) writing on a paper to be reviewed next morning as part of "Warming up hour"
- D 2 = personal development watching a short or part (2-5 minutes) personal development video and make notes in: Personal development journal*
- D 3 = skill building journal (2-5 minutes)
- D 4 = wealth creation journal (2-5 minutes)
- D5 = Creative development, hobby, art, craft (2-5 minutes). See the article below why and what kind of hobbies for example. Make notes in: Creative journal*.
- D6 = self development 2-5 goals & reflection
- Fusion of: body scan + deep breathing 8-8-8-8 + PMR -Progressive Muscle Relaxation (2-5 minutes)
- Free-floating: reading, relaxing, nothing, music, reflection (10 minutes)
*By journalling the employee is tracking all the small habits and processes in time, important improvements and this is teaching the employees a valuation of Time-Self management.
Journaling really does shine a light on those small, daily habits that shape our bigger results. It's like giving time a voice—suddenly you see what's working, what's not, and where your energy truly goes.
What we change
Context switching:
- refers to the frequent shifting of focus between various unrelated tasks during a workday. For example, while working on a presentation slide deck, one may also frequently divert attention to checking emails. This is followed by transitions to tasks such as analyzing weekly sales reports, all while periodically interrupting workflow to respond to instant messages.
Context switch, aka multitasking, increases stress levels and leads to poor decision-making.
